Email and URL forwarding
Included free with any domain on Plonki DNS. No mailbox to pay for, no website needed.
Email forwarding
Make hello@acmecoffee.com.au land in an inbox you already use, like Gmail or Outlook.
shell
curl https://plonki.com.au/v1/domains/acmecoffee.com.au/email-forwards \
-H "Authorization: Bearer $PLONKI_KEY" -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-d '{"alias": "hello", "forward_to": "sam@gmail.com"}'- Add as many addresses as you like: hello, sales, accounts.
- Forwarding receives mail only. To send as hello@yourdomain, use your mail provider's "send mail as" setting, or a mailbox service.
- Don't combine forwarding with MX records for another mail service on the same domain; pick one.
URL forwarding
Send visitors somewhere else, like an Instagram page, a booking page or another domain. It's a permanent (301) redirect.
shell
curl https://plonki.com.au/v1/domains/acmecoffee.com.au/url-forwards \
-H "Authorization: Bearer $PLONKI_KEY" -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-d '{"host": "@", "destination": "https://instagram.com/acmecoffee"}'hostis@for the domain itself, or a label likewwworshop.- A redirect replaces any website on that host: its A, AAAA and CNAME records are removed.
Requirements
Forwarding runs on Plonki DNS. If the domain uses another provider's nameservers you'll get dns_not_hosted; set up forwarding there instead. Older domains are switched to the forwarding-capable DNS setup the first time you add a forward, and their existing records are kept.
