Test mode
Test keys (plk_test_…) run every call against a simulated registry. Orders complete instantly and nothing is charged.
What's simulated
| Availability | Names containing taken, and well-known names like google, example, amazon or openai, show as taken. Everything else is available. |
| Premium names | Names containing premium, or three characters or fewer, come back as premium with a higher price. |
| Registration | Completes straight away with payment: "free_test". The balance isn't touched. |
| DNS | Records, nameservers and point_domain work against a simulated zone you can read back. |
| Transfer codes | Always TEST-AUTH-CODE. |
| Contacts | Shared with live mode, so you set them up once. |
Seeing test data
Test domains and orders are kept separate from live ones. In the dashboard, use Test mode in the sidebar to see them. Through the API, a test key only ever sees test data and a live key only sees live data.
Assistants in test mode
When you connect an AI assistant with OAuth, tick Test mode on the consent screen. Or configure it with a plk_test_ key as a Bearer token.
Test mode prices use the same markup as live, so you can build price displays against them, but the wholesale list behind them is a fixed sample.
